We were super excited to have beautiful weather for the 2017 German-American Volksfest!
Cool kids heading into the Volksfest after we took the bus from the Graf PX parking lot.
Welcome to the German-American Volksfest!
Welcome, indeed! First mug of beer! Our first mug with lunch had to be small (and not the commemorative maß) because those mugs are HUGE and HEAVY and we didn't want to walk around with them all day.
This nice German guy took our family picture. We definitely made sure Grant did not have his hands down his pants. Of course, instead, we overlooked his untucked shirt. Ugh!
Two cool dudes at the AFN tent at Volksfest (Nat is chatting it up with C-Dub and Mommy).
Chappie took this really nice picture of us. FINALLY!!!!! (OK, my necklace is a little crooked, but it's good enough for government work!)
Nat talking to C-Dub. It's her last Volksfest as she's PCSing back to the States this summer.
Here comes Grant! He actually got a big burn on his right elbow when he went down this because he didn't keep his arms up.
See? Do it like this! Nat was having fun!
Natalie in the medical Stryker. Cutie!
Little buddy wanted to take it for a spin.
Silly boys in front of the helicopter.
After taking the medical Stryker for a spin, he wanted to take the bird up.
Grant looking super cute in his lederhosen next to the Army chopper.
Daddy, the big kid that he is, wanted to sit in the helicopter, too!
We had to take a quick trip to the medical tent to get Grant some adhesive bandages for his elbow.
Please. For the love of everything that is holy. Don't leave that bread unattended!
Making their way into the funhouse and maze of mirrors.
She said she was trying to be Marilyn Monroe here, HA! She is so funny. Thank goodness we put bicycle shorts on her!
Family selfie on a ride! This was pretty fun!
Mein Mann has procured us some Bier in the commemorative mugs! Sigh. I miss the beard a little bit.
Cuties at the Volksfest!
They did karaoke with a live band and this girl crushed it, wearing a newborn on her chest!
Natalie and I decided to ride this terrifying ride. I knew it would be sort of ok because it didn't actually go upside down but Todd didn't want to go and I knew Natalie really wanted to go. Parenting point score! It was kind of fun, mostly insane. I kept my eyes closed for most of it! After we went, Todd and Grant actually joined us!
Until next time, Volksfest! We have fun every year!
Hey Colleen: I know you all are talking about Slovenia and Austria, but curious, I saw a site talking about Oeschinen Lake in Switzerland. It is supposedly a blue similar to what you see in Banff from glacial melt, really gorgeous. Have you been to that area? The only catch is the water while clean as can be if you go to the right sections, is way too cold for Floridians but might be tolerable to native Bostonians!! :) The scenery is amazing but you have gone to places already that are awe inspiring, but just curious!
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, forgot this important topic. Todd, beard or no beard? It is like whether you think Cisco on Deep Space 9 was better with a beard. Funny thing is one of the directors of that Star Trek series was Jonathan Frakes who had his own beard or no beard controversy in Next Generation! I think Commander Riker was better without the beard, Cisco beard all the way. As for Todd, I think for Volksfest beard takes it by a hair.
ReplyDeletePuns aside (older son is a pun expert now), you all look great in your outfits. The military stuff is just too cool.
