Trip to Cozumel, Mexico

Our first stop on the cruise was Cozumel, Mexico!

If you know me, you know that I really, really don't love Mexico. I've been there twice and never had a good time (let's just say there were some stomach issues in Puerto Vallarta!)  But I'm here and I'm willing to give Mexico another chance!

The water was real pretty when we docked in Cozumel. Lots of people were already getting off of the ship and going to fun excursions like snorkeling and sailing.  Hmmm, maybe next time if Todd goes with me! There are actually three main docks here- two where we are (that can support four ships) and one way down there in the distance, which is much closer to the downtown Cozumel area.

I took a picture of the sign each day just in case I forgot what time we had to be all aboard.

Hello there, Connie!

I was totally laughing - as we got off of the ship, you really could get a better view of how small the Celebrity Constellation was compared to the Norwegian Escape! The Constellation holds about 2,175-ish people (give or take) and the Escape holds more than 4,200! After this cruise, I really do think I prefer the smaller ships.

We made it to Cozumel! This area is really just a bunch of bars and shops. If you want to really see Cozumel, you will need to either a) take a cab up to the real city, or b) take a cruise line that docks at Punta Langosta port rather than these other docks, which mainly house Royal Caribbean (also Celebrity) and Carnival ships.

"Mom, I just want to go into Cozumel, have a beer, buy a shot glass and get back on the ship."

Ok, then let's just do that!

Me and the ships and a beer in Cozumel.

We made two stops in Cozumel - Tequila a GoGo and Señor Frogs. I like the way they painted this palm tree.

Me and the big Cozumel sign and our ship in the distance.

Stop number two -  Señor Frogs! I mean, really! It doesn't get much cheesier than this!

That's one thing you can say about Señor Frogs... you're never going to be bored there!

They definitely had the best view of our ship! This was from the seat we got right up on the water.

FIRST... they gave us nametags. I was "Sexy Mamacita" and my mom was "Sugar Mama." LOL!

You could spend a solid hour trying to read all of the signs on the ceiling and the walls in here.

I ordered a yard sized Bahama Mama. Yikes.

Then a lady came over making little balloon hats and bracelets, which is kind of funny because my mom and I hate balloons. But fine, I'll play along. I think you can guess what happened just a few minutes after this picture was taken. Yep. The blue balloon popped. I was deaf for a solid two minutes.

My mom's balloon didn't pop but she promptly threw it away as soon as we left the bar!

Ok bye Cozumel, you weren't too bad.

The water sure was pretty here! I imagine the snorkeling is really great!

Cozumel (at least in this port): Good for a couple of drinks.

I feel so miniature between these ships.

Back in our room, we hung out on the balcony after lunch and you could REALLY hear that the bars were getting crazy! We could hear the music, and people screaming and having a great time.

That water is just soooo pretty. I can't get over it.

We went to Blu for dinner again and it did not disappoint! Have I mentioned that this cabernet was really amazing?

Even the after dinner cappuccino (don't yell at me if you're Italian, I ALREADY KNOW!) was tasty and pretty!

After dinner, we walked to the back of the ship and had a drink while we waited to depart Cozumel.

The sunset was so pretty - I guess that's why they call it the Sunset Bar!

We didn't get a full sunset but we did get the beautiful rays beaming through the clouds.

And then we got to see some cool evening cumulus clouds as we departed Cozumel.

SO COOL.

After sunset, we went to the Martini Bar and had a dirty martini for my mother-in-law, who passed away a year ago on this date.

Raise a glass! She was really the best mother-in-law of all time, and she loved a good martini, so naturally we had one for her. Although I think I might have preferred her other favorite - a vodka tonic!

I scratched her initials into the ice on the bar at the Martini Bar. Wait, you're noticing that we have the same initials? Yes we do!

I think she would have THOROUGHLY enjoyed watching Boom Boom and Andrew throw bottles around every night! There was never a bad show- they were really amazing!

And then... it was time for bed down the long, quiet hallway of Deck 9!

Until next time, Cozumel! (Maybe!)
