New Year's Eve, Vilseck, Germany

This was our LAST New Year's in Germany.  And other than the one we spent in Dresden, we loved every one of them!

Even this year, as we were living in a hotel, we needed to partake in the madness.  So Grant and I ran down to the Edeka in Vilseck and grabbed a big firework pack.  Which was like 10 Euros.

The night started off.... kind of weird.  We were watching TV in the hotel room and this came on?  I'm seriously going to miss Germany and all of it's insane television.

Todd thinks fireworks and Makers 46 are a winning combination.

The old Makers Mark firework stand is ready to go!

We had some "neighbors" that really had some good stuff!  I'm sure this is safe, right?  Please don't hit our rental car. I'm not sure we purchased the insurance.

Todd lighting one of the smaller fireworks.

He lights it and RUNS.

The neighbors put on quite a display. Not as good as those on Ohrenbacher Strasse though!

Ready, set, go!

Those things really take off!  And the sky was all smoky because there are so many people letting off fireworks.

People down Breite Gasse had some pretty good fireworks.

Ok, now this was kind of funny.  Here is the beginning of a series I titled, "That Time Todd Got Chased by a Firework."

Light it and run!

Ah, that looks nice.

But wait, why is this firework moving horizontally?

Now it appears to be chasing Todd!

Seriously, he couldn't get away from it!

No matter which direction he went, it came after him!

We fired off a more tame firework next.

And then Todd realized he probably should just move all of the fireworks much father away from where we were standing.  Notice my broken Makers Mark bottle on the far right.

Light it and run FASTER this time!

Time for some sparklers!  It was really chilly out this year.

My babies wish everyone a Frohes neues Jahr!

Taking a picture with her new iPod Touch.

Last but not least, we had to throw little poppers!  We outlasted everyone else in the freezing cold!  We also left the biggest mess!  (Which of course, we cleaned up to the best of our ability.)

Happy New Year, Germany.  We are certainly going to miss you.
